Aadhaar Card is an important government identification proof, that is currently made mandatory for all the Indian citizens. PAN card is an acronym of Permanent Account Number. Once it has been allotted to an individual, the number remains the same, without any change. During the payment of Income Tax, this PAN card number is used in order to avoid duplication and to avoid fake identifications. Recently, it is made mandatory by the government to link aadhaar card number with our PAN card number. You can do this online or through your mobile phone.
Procedure 1: Through Official Website
Step by Step Procedure for Linking Aadhaar card with PAN card:
Step 1: You have to visit the government official website of Income Tax Department
Step 2: In this page, you can enter the details like unique PAN number, 12 digit Aadhaar number and Your name as per Aadhaar card.
Step 3: Enter the security code given in the page, in the box provided.
Step 4: Now click the button, ‘Link Aadhaar’, in that page.
Step 5: You have successfully linked your PAN card with your Aadhaar Number.
Procedure 2: Through Mobile Number
In addition to this, you can also link your PAN card with your Aadhaar card by sending an SMS in the below format, to the given number.
UIDPAN<12 digit Aadhaar Number><10 digit PAN number> TO 56161 or 567678
Remember that this message should be sent with your registered mobile number, that has been linked with your Aadhar card.
What Happens if you do not link your Aadhaar Card with PAN card?
If we fail to link your aadhaar card with PAN card, then you will not be allowed file your Income Tax Returns after July 1, 2017. After December 2017, your PAN card will be considered as invalid. So government has requested each and every citizen of India, to do the linking as soon as possible.
Update: The Deadline to link Aadhaar with PAN Card Extended by Govt. Of India. The Govt. On this Friday Decided to Extend the deadline for linking Aadhaar with PAN Card to 31’st March 2018. It’s a Really big relief to all the Tax Payers who have not yet Linked their Aadhaar Card with their PAN Card.
