Steps to Get PAN Card for Infants

PAN is the Permanent Account Number, which is assigned to every tax paying individual in our country. This PAN card can also be considered as the government identification proof, which can be produced under any circumstances, to prove our identity. Using this card, we can pay our taxes and government can keep track of our financial records under all circumstances. Indian citizens, as well as, Non-residential Indians can apply for the PAN Card, if they have business interests in our country. This PAN card is used not only for paying the taxes, they are as well used while buying a property and while investing or depositing large amount in banks. Indian citizens, who have attained the age of 18 years, can apply for the PAN Card in NSDL.

However, the infants or minors can also get this PAN card and use it as an identification proof. In this article, we are providing step by step procedure for applying PAN card for minors, through online and offline mode.

Applying PAN Card for Infants or Minor: 

Even Infants and Minor can apply for PAN card. Even though, they have no source of income, they can produce this PAN card as an identification proof. This PAN card for infants or minors can be applied in two forms like Online mode and offline mode.        

  • Applying PAN through Online Mode for Infants or Minors:

  • You will be redirected to the ‘Online PAN application’ page, when you click the above link

PAN Card for Kids

  • You have to select the Application type as ‘New PAN’ and depending on the citizenship type select ‘Form 49A or Form 49AA’.
  • Select the category as ‘Individual’.
    • Provide the applicant’s information such as First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Email ID and mobile number.
    • After entering the details, you have to enter the Captcha code, displayed below in the same page.
    • Submit the form. Once you click ‘Submit’, your reference number of the request will be displayed.
    • Using this number, your application status can be tracked online.
    • You will receive your PAN card through post, to the mentioned postal address.

Applying PAN through Offline mode for Infants or Minors:

    • We are mentioning the step by step procedure for applying PAN card for minors through offline. 
      • Download Form 49 or Form 49A depending upon your residential type. If you hold Indian Citizenship, then you have to download Form 49, if not Form 49A.
      • These forms can be downloaded from the Tax Information Website of NSDL
      • We can also avail this form from the UTISL offices or through the agents.
      • In this form, fill in the required details and attach copies of the original proofs.
      • When applying for minors, no photo is required.
      • Submit the forms and the required proofs in the UTISL office, near you.
      • After verification process has been completed, you will receive your PAN card in the mentioned address.
