How to Change the Address in Aadhaar Card Online

Aadhaar Card is a 12-digit unique identification number which is an important government identification proof, that is gaining limelight in the recent days. This card can also be produced as a proof for many official purposes. While registering for this card, we are also required to provide our biometric details and the chance of misuse of this card, significantly reduces. It is compulsory for all the citizens of India, to apply and to receive this government identification proof within this year end. There are many centres where you can go and apply for this aadhaar card. It takes almost 2 – 3 weeks for receiving this Aadhaar card once registered. Government has also made it mandatory for linking this Aadhaar card with other government identification proofs like PAN card, Driving license, bank account, ration card, etc.

In addition to offline, government is also providing many online services, when it comes to Aadhaar card. In this article, we are going to see in detail about one such service. Here we are going to see the steps to change the address in your Aadhaar card, through online.

Step by Step Procedure for Changing the address in the Aadhaar card Through Online: 

Step 1: Click on the below link for logging into the official website for availing Aadhaar card services https://uidai.gov.in/te 

Step 2: In this page, under the heading of Aadhaar Online Services, you will find a sub-heading Aadhaar Update. 

Step 3: Under this heading, you will find a hyperlink ‘Update Aadhaar Details (Online)’. Click on that link and you will be redirected to another page. 

Step 4: On this self service portal, there will be an announcement on what informations can be updated, documents required for updation, etc., will be mentioned. Once you have read the instructions, you have to click on ‘Proceed’. 

Step 5: Once you click on ‘Proceed’ option, you will be asked to enter your Aadhaar number. Provide your Aadhaar Number in the box provided. Below this enter the verification code displayed in the page. 

Step 6: After entering the verification code, Click on ‘Send OTP’ button. You will receive an OTP in your registered mobile number and E-mail ID. You can also generate a ‘Time Based OTP (TOTP)’, instead of using a OTP generated in SMS. 

Step 7: Once you receive the OTP, enter that in the provided box and click on ‘Login’ button. 

Step 8: In the next page, you will find informations that can be modified by you through online procedure. 

Step 9: Select ‘Address’ and provide your updated address in the boxes provided below. You have to enter all the mandatory fields, while providing for address. 

Step 10: When you have given your updated address, select the document that you will be submitting for proving you new address. You have to provide original scan copies of the document. 

Step 11: Once you have uploaded the document, click on ‘Submit’. After this, you will receive a ‘Unique Request Number (URN)’, in your registered mobile number and e-mail ID. You can find the status of your request through the same official website by clicking on ‘Check Status – Updation done online’. 

Including address, you can also change Name, Date of Birth, Mobile number or e-mail ID, through online, by providing proper documents.
