As per the Indian Government, all the Indian citizens are requested to enrol for their Aadhaar card and get all their other important documents like Driver’s License, Ration card, Bank account, etc. linked with their Aadhaar number. All the departments have been notified the same, if their customers fail to submit their Aadhaar card, the bank account or mobile number, will be non-operational after January 1, 2018. In order to avoid any inconvenience and to enjoy uninterrupted service, customers have to link their Aadhaar number with all the necessary documents.
Bank customers are also requested to link their Aadhaar card with their Bank account number, in order to avoid any disruptions. In order to avoid any last minute rush, they are requested to do so, at the earliest.
Should NRI and OCI Card Holder link their Aadhaar Card to their Respective Bank Account?
- If a person who is holding an account in a Bank is a Nonresidential Indian (NRI) or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), he or she is not eligible for getting an aadhaar card.
- Since they cannot avail the Aadhaar card, they are exempted from linking their Aadhaar card with their Bank accounts in India.
- Even though, they are not linked their Aadhaar card with their Bank account, their Bank account will not be deactivated and they can still enjoy uninterrupted services from the bank.
- You can also ignore the messages you are receiving from the bank, to link your Aadhaar card with Bank account. Since those are sent to all the customers irrespective of the NRI or OCI customers.
